When I was growing up I played every sport that was available to me at school. Playing sport was the highlight of my days and weeks, but this isn’t the case for everyone. Playing as part of a sports group inside or outside of school is some peoples worst nightmare. In fact a lot of teenagers can’t think of anything worse than doing any form of exercise. My 12 year old nephew absolutely loves sport and is football crazy, but playing for a team doesn’t appeal to him. Is it due to pressure? Not feeling good enough? Or can he genuinely not be bothered?

I always struggled academically at school and regardless of how hard I tried I never achieved the results I deserved. The only way I dealt with the stress was to exercise as it took my mind off the situation at the time and made me feel good about myself, even if it was only for that hour. There is a huge amount of pressure applied to students of all ages and if I can offer an escape that can allow teenagers to enjoy themselves and keep fit then I will be doing something right.

One of the biggest reasons people don’t exercise is due to lack of interest and confidence. If what you’re doing isn’t fun then why would you commit to it? My aim is to prove exercise can be fun and enjoyable and there is no pressure to feel you have to be better than someone else. I have a range of different equipment which helps to vary every session. I offer a service where you can have 1 to 1 training and enjoy every minute of it. Even at a young age it is important to take time out of your school life and look after your mind and body. Exercise doesn’t just make us feel good about the way we look, it also helps improve our mental health at the same time.
